Welcome to the Festive Decor Website
Festive Decor (Patron - Sir Fabian Malbon) is the Guernsey registered charity responsible for the ownership and annual erection of the Guernsey Christmas lights in St. Peter Port. The Christmas lights are 100% funded by charitable donations and have been since the first string of lights was put up in 1964.
The erection of the Christmas lights is co-ordinated by Festive Decor and man power is provided by various groups including the Young Buisness Group ("YBG") who also co-ordinate Switch On Day.
Testing, maintaining and putting up/taking down Christmas lights is an expensive business and we estimate (due to the inclusion of the new displays and the increasing cost of Switch On Day) that we will now need to raise around £30,000 every year.
Festive Decor does not receive any States funding, contrary to popular belief, so responsibility for the lights falls to the charity and the Guernsey community.
