New Lights in Smith Street

There have been a number of comments about the lights going up too early this year...  This is very frustrating for the Festive team as we are restricted to putting the lights up on a Sunday.  If we did not we'd have to close areas of town on a Saturday in the lead up to Christmas (we all have day jobs so could not put the lights up in the week).  This would cause much disruption and I suspect - even more complaints!  As Switch On Day is 29th November this year it really only gives us 5/6 Sundays to put the lights up.  It is a mammoth task involving numerous voluntary hours - people clearly don't understand this. It's not that we are after a "thank you" or a pat on the back - far from it. However it would make are lives a lot easier if we didn't have to deal with these sort of comments.
