Festive Décor

The Young Business Group (“YBG”) has played a major part in illuminating St. Peter Port during the festive period for many years.

In the early days the lights were put up by an informal group of volunteers which evolved through the the Chamber of Commerce and YBG.  As the need for fundraising became increasingly important it was decided to form a separate company (Festive Decor) to look after this role. Nevertheless, close links with YBG were retained (with several YBG members holding positions on the Festive Board).

Festive Decor is the management company with YBG undertaking many of the important roles.  In particular, YBG has the specific responsibilities of assisting with putting up the lights and everything that surrounds the big switch on day including the parade, Santa’s visit and all activities centred in Church Square.

YBG was formed in 1961 to provide a social environment in which young business people could network and discuss ideas and issues affecting them.  Over the years YBG has developed dramatically but its purpose remains the same.  In particular, membership has soared but remains diverse with all sectors of business and industry in Guernsey having strong representation.  The focus of YBG's activities is a monthly lunch club to which a topical speaker is invited.  It is also involved in a number of other business, social and community projects including the business trends survey and the Bill Green Award.  If you are interested in joining the YBG visit their website www.ybg.gg
